Stunning New Restaurant at the Solent Hotel & Spa!

There's a new look for the restaurant and bar at Solent Hotel & Spa, Fareham, following an investment of over £250,000.

The Terrace has a contemporary style and is much brighter, after walls were knocked down to open up the space. Its new interior has drawn a big influence from its coastal surroundings, with aqua and grey colours and seaside themed furnishings.

The public will be able to see the new look for themselves when the restaurant reopens on 28th March following the 4 week refurbishment.

Steve Woodrow, General Manager, said: "It looks fantastic and we can't wait to reopen the doors to the public.

"The difference will be striking from the moment they enter – the floor has changed, the walls have changed and we’ve also got a lot more dressed areas, so it all looks really comfortable and welcoming.

“We have kept some of the popular aspects of the old restaurant, including the fire place and chef’s table but there are lots of new aspects. One of the key new features is the introduction of some fabulous booth seating areas which are perfect for groups and we expect them to be really popular, especially the one in the centre of the bar.”

During the course of the transformation staff found a surprise as they cleared out the area ready for work to start – they came across menus from nearly 20 years ago that had been hidden away at the back of a cupboard.

"There were a few items that we came across including a room service menu and drinks menu," explained Steve.

"They had fallen down the back of the cupboard so it came as a complete surprise to us to find them. We’ve been having a good look at how things have changed since then and it’s quite nostalgic looking back at it all.

“Back then the restaurant was all quite formal, with white tablecloths and complete meals, whereas now guests are looking for more casual dining and they mix and match their meal and side dishes to create the meal they want.”

It's been quite a year for Solent Hotel & Spa. In July it opened a new premium budget accommodation building, The Lodge at Solent, refurbished its pub, Parson's Collar & Kitchen, made enhancements to its spa and updated meeting rooms. In total well over £5m has been spent across the hotel in the last year.
