Experience DeVere Oulton Hall06 Mar 2014

De Vere Oulton Hall’s sweeping driveway leads to the impressive entrance where I was met by the beaming smile of the concierge; something I was highly glad to see as the rain was pouring and I wanted to make a quick dash into the hotel.

I had heard that the hotel had recently joined Maiden Voyage and undergone training to meet the requirements so I had high expectations for this visit; the hotel did not disappoint.

Maiden Voyage hotels are personally inspected by a female representative and have to meet strict requirements to be recommended; as minimum properties must have 24 hour manned reception, a well-lit entrance and secure rooms with at least two independent locks. They also like those added extras which make your stay extra special, such as quality toiletries, a selection of ladies magazines, removable coat hangers and proper hairdryers; which I was glad to hear about as I hate the push button models you often see in hotels! It ensures that the hotel lives and breathes female friendly ethics; security and awareness are the key factors which are considered. As a regular lone female traveller I felt this was a fantastic selling point for the hotel and something I will always consider when looking for hotels in the future.

I was lucky enough to be allocated one of their new concept rooms, Chambre Unique, this was beautifully light in décor and had some great little extras including a Starbucks coffee machine; as a coffee lover I thought this was a great touch and a vast improvement on the normal coffee offering in many hotels.

My early arrival at the hotel meant I had time to use the spa where I treated myself to the ESPA facial; this was customised to my skin and was fantastic. I followed this by relaxing in the pool, the chill out music and ever changing lighting made this a fantastic place to unwind.

Located just 20 minutes from Leeds this hotel is perfect for both leisure breaks and corporate stays.
